Kim Ji-hoon Confesses Concerns Regarding His Character In “Ballerina”, “Women Would Hate That Role”

Actor Kim Ji-hoon talked about his character in Netflix’s film “Ballerina”

On October 11th, Kim Ji-hoon had an interview at a cafe in Sogyeok-dong, Seoul. When asked about the reason he decided to appear in the movie “Ballerina”, the actor said, “I got close to Jeon Jong-seo because we did Netflix’s series ‘Money Heist’ together. At Jeon Jong-seo’s recommendation, I read the scenario given by director Lee Chung-hyun.”

“Ballerina” is an action revenge movie about former bodyguard Ok-joo (Jeon Jong-seo) hunting down Choi Pro (Kim Ji-hoon), who causes the death of her precious friend Min-hee (Park Yoo-rim).

Regarding his character Choi Pro, Kim Ji-hoon said, “I often look for references before playing any character, but I can’t find any character like this. That’s why I worked hard to portray it in my own way”.

However, the actor also confessed his concerns when making the decision to appear in this movie. He shared, “This character made me think a lot. Although I’ve played a lot of villain roles before, and the weight of the crime can be lighter than the murderous villains I used to play, I was worried about acting as Choi Pro because it was a role that women would hate”.

Kim Ji-hoon continued, “Our agency was also concerned about the character and they even told me to make a careful decision. But I personally enjoyed reading the scenario. I joined the team because I had faith and expectations for the director and Jeon Jong-seo.”

He further explained, “Choi is a villain but I believed that it would not leave a dark history in my filmography. Due to the nature of the character, there’s a handicap, but as an actor, I thought I could leave a good impression on the viewers”.

Regarding the completed version of the film, the actor said, “I really like the rhythm and hip feeling while filming”, adding “Since the story is simple, the movie was a monotonous narrative in the first place. While filming it, I was curious about how it would come out. I was very impressed by the director’s capabilities because he showed an unimaginable picture during the filming”.

Netflix’s film “Ballerina” premiered on October 6th.
