Produce 48 was once hailed as the ultimate K-pop training ground, producing stars like Jang Wonyoung and An Yujin (IVE), Sakura and Chaewon (LE SSERAFIM), and Kwon Eunbi. While some contestants rose to fame through the project group IZ*ONE, many others struggled to survive in the cutthroat idol industry. Among them was Kim Hyunah, a 1995-born trainee from Collazoo Entertainment, who briefly debuted with the girl group L.U.X before its disbandment.

Hyunah joined Produce 48 in 2018 and quickly caught attention with her bright smile and approachable image. She advanced to episode 8, finishing at 46th place out of 96 contestants. Though her journey was short-lived, she managed to gain a modest fanbase.
Seven years later, instead of continuing the idol path, Hyunah shocked fans by shifting careers entirely. She became a BJ (Broadcasting Jockey), a popular yet controversial profession in Korea where streamers earn money through virtual gifts from viewers. Known for her striking looks and bold charisma, Hyunah quickly rose to popularity in the BJ community, often streaming in alluring outfits, dancing, and interacting with viewers in a daring style.

Her gamble paid off. Today, she boasts over 186,000 Instagram followers and more than 1.3 million TikTok fans, proving her strong presence online despite stepping away from K-pop. Beyond livestreaming, Hyunah has reinvented herself in music as a DJ, performing at major events like S2O Taiwan and Waterbomb Seoul, and even releasing her own track, Purgatory.

Speaking about her career change, Hyunah admitted she has no plans to return as an idol. With a steady income, social media fame, and consistent bookings, her choice has been seen as practical and empowering. While some fans lament her unfinished idol journey, many agree she has carved out a path that fits her talents and personality.
