Kim Dong Hwi and Kim Hye Yoon: Winners of the 2022 Blue Dragon’s Rookie Awards that each actor can only receive once
Kim Dong Hwi and Kim Hye Yoon had meaningful speeches upon winning Blue Dragon’s Best New Actor and Actress.
On November 25th, the 43rd Blue Dragon Film Awards was held at KBS Hall in Seoul. Kim Hye Soo and Yoo Yeon Seok hosted the ceremony for the 5th year in a row.
On this day, Kim Dong Hwi (“In Our Prime”), Mu Jin Sung (“Perhaps Love”), Seo In Guk (“Project Wolf Hunting”), Ong Seong Woo (“Life Is Beautiful – 2020”) and Lee Seo Jun (“Hansan: Rising Dragon”) competed for the title of “Best New Actor”. In the end, Kim Dong Hwi was announced the winner.
Kim Dong Hwi said, “I thought the actors were just saying ‘I really didn’t expect to receive it’ while watching award shows on TV every day. I came without thinking (that I would win).I filmed ‘In Our Prime’ three years ago. I auditioned without a company, and at that time, the CEO of the production company, the director, and even senior Choi Min Shik helped me, so I finished the movie well.”
He continued, “After I started my career as an actor, I seem to have lived my life looking forward to tomorrow with a nervous and anxious mind. It has not been a long process so far, but I think it will be a driving force to move forward as I reflect on my past life.”
The nominees for “Best New Actress” are Go Yoon Jung (“Hunt”), Kim Hye Yoon (“The Girl on a Bulldozer”), Kim Shin Young (“Decision to Leave”), Shin Si Ah (“The Witch: Part 2. The Other One”), Lee Ji Eun/IU (“Broker”). It was Kim Hye Yoon who took home the trophy.
Kim Hye Yoon said, “I came as an award presenter three years ago. While watching the senior actors, I was very nervous because I saw the people I usually saw on TV, but I’m in the same place now.”
She confessed, “I was more afraid and worried about whether I could do well than I was happy, excited, and trembling while acting these days.”
Kim Hye Yoon continued, “I thought a lot about whether I was acting well or doing it right, so there were many question marks. Those question marks seem to have changed into exclamation points through this occasion. I would like to thank everyone who made that change happen.”
