Actor Kim Bum returned more powerfully in “Tale of the Nine Tailed 1938”.

Kim Bum plays the role of half-blood gumiho Lee Rang in tvN’s new Sat-Sun drama “Tale of the Nine Tailed 1938” (directed by Kang Shin Hyo/ written by Han Woo Ri/ produced by Studio Dragon and How Pictures), which premiered on May 6th. From the first episode, he already satisfied viewers’ eyes with amazing action and fantasy scenes.

In the opening reminiscent of a Western drama, Kim Beom appears with messy hair and a cowboy hat, drawing drama fans’ attention by presenting a new image of Lee Rang, the leader of a gang in 1938. In addition, Lee Rang is also seen firing a cannon at Lee Yeon (Lee Dong Wook) and engaging in a gun battle after asking “You’re still alive?”, bringing even more spectacular action scenes.

Kim Beom also portrayed the hesitant moment of Lee Rang despite the ongoing unsavory relationship between Lee Rang and Lee Yeon, increasing viewers’ immersion. When Lee Yeon suddenly apologizes for hurting him in the past, Lee Rang’s expression softens. While trying to attack Lee Yeon with an axe, Lee Rang also wonders why his brother does not avoid him. When Lee Yeon calmly leaves, Lee Rang shows a sad expression. At that moment, he is suddenly stabbed by the Hongbaektal sword from behind and falls to the ground.

Additionally, Kim Bum takes advantage of the fantasy material to depict Lee Rang’s out-of-body experience. After losing consciousness from the attack, Lee Rang gets panics as his soul leaves his body. While wandering around the Myoyeongak, he discovers that Dong Bang Sak (Young Hun) can sense the existence of his soul through sound. As Dong Bang Sak orders the gang to take over his body, Lee Rang borrows the body of Juk Hyang (Joo Ye Rim) and kills Dong Bang Sak with Lee Yeon’s help. After a thrilling battle, he successfully reclaims his body.
