Global girl group KATSEYE member Manon will temporarily suspend her activities, according to an announcement released today (February 21).
On the same day, KATSEYE’s agency, HYBE-Geffen Records, shared an official statement explaining the decision. The company stated, “After open and thoughtful conversations together, we are sharing that Manon will be taking a temporary hiatus from group activities to focus on her health and wellbeing. We fully support this decision.”

They continued, “KATSEYE remains committed to showing up for one another and for the fans who mean everything to us. The group will continue scheduled activities during this time, and we look forward to being together again when the time is right.”
Following her announcement of a hiatus from KATSEYE, Manon drew widespread attention after liking a social media post about a Black girl allegedly being discriminated against by a label, prompting speculation that the message might reflect her own experiences.

A close friend of Manon reportedly her boyfriend further fueled the discussion by reposting content claiming that she had faced discrimination because of her race. While the initial reaction online appeared tense and divided, the situation soon evolved into broader debates over whether the alleged discrimination was real.

Manon also followed a Cosmopolitan reporter who had written an article discussing claims that she had been mistreated, adding to public curiosity surrounding the situation. Meanwhile, major industry platforms such as GRAMMY and Rolling Stone published supportive or related coverage, and a growing number of Black celebrities publicly expressed support for the singer.
KATSEYE is a global girl group launched through a collaboration between HYBE and Geffen Records under Universal Music Group. The group was formed in 2023 through the audition program The Debut: Dream Academy, which selected six final members from participants around the world.

The lineup consists of Sophia, Manon, Daniela, Lara, Megan, and Yoonchae. Each member represents diverse nationalities and cultural backgrounds, including the Philippines, Switzerland, the United States, and South Korea, reflecting the group’s global identity.
KATSEYE officially debuted on June 28, 2024, with their debut single Debut and has been actively promoting primarily in the United States.
