Kang Dong-won reportedly signed with the U.S agency CAA, heralding full-scale expansion in overseas markets

Actor Kang Dong-won (41 years old) recently signed with a U.S agency for representation outside Korea.

According to the U.S media site Variety on March 23rd (local time), Kang Dong-won recently signed an exclusive contract with Creative Artists Agency (CAA), one of the three major entertainment and sports agencies in the U.S.

CAA is the home to many star actors and directors, including Tom Hanks, Brad Pitt, Meryl Streep, George Clooney, and director Steven Spielberg. It recently drew attention by signing contracts with “Squid Game” actors Lee Jung-jae and Jung Ho-yeon.

Starting with his exclusive contract with CAA, Kang Dong-won, who has been seeking overseas expansion for the past few years, is expected to begin carrying out more activities centered on the North American market.

Variety said, “Kang Dong-won joins a string of Korean on-screen talent securing international representation as the country’s creative sector is propelled to the fore by works such as ‘Parasite’ and ‘Squid Game’”, adding, “He is a fluent English speaker, and before the coronavirus pandemic, he is known to have filmed scenes for ‘Tsunami LA’. If completed, the film would mark Kang Dong-won’s Hollywood debut”.
