Pledis’ first boy group in 9 years, TWS, known as the “SEVENTEEN’s younger brother,” has garnered attention with strong support from HYBE. TWS recently released their pre-debut single “Oh Mymy: 7s” and is set to officially debut with the album “Sparkling Blue” on January 22, 2024, building expectations in the K-pop fan community.

BE:LIFT Lab, another HYBE subsidiary, is set to debut the rookie girl group I’LL-IT, formed through the survival show R U Next?. However, the recent departure of one of the most popular members, Youngseo, has left fans disappointed.

HYBE is also gearing up to introduce KATSEYE, a multinational girl group selected through The Debut: Dream Academy. Although the debut date is yet to be confirmed, KATSEYE has attracted international attention for its diverse lineup of members with multiple nationalities, making it a project focused on the Western market.

SM and JYP continue their investment efforts, with SM launching NCT NEW TEAM targeting the Japanese market and introducing a new girl group in 2024.

JYP collaborates with Universal Music Group’s Republic Records for the debut of the multinational girl group VCHA, aiming to blend American standards with K-pop excellence.

JYP is also set to debut two boy groups, NEXZ and PROJECT C, with a focus on the Japanese and Chinese markets, respectively. Additionally, JYJ Loud is expected to debut in the second quarter of 2024, continuing JYP’s success after Stray Kids.

As for YG, their recent debut BABYMONSTER faced challenges, and concerns arise about their future success, especially with the upcoming comeback and the absence of hitmaker Teddy from the project.

YG’s recent struggles have raised worries among fans, questioning if BABYMONSTER can follow their senior BLACKPINK and break through in a highly competitive market.

The competition among the “Big4” K-pop agencies in the rookie scene reflects a dynamic and competitive landscape in the K-pop industry in 2024.
