K-pop Idols in ‘Mask Girl’: From the Main Cast to Unexpected Cameo Appearances

From Nana, EXID Junghwa, U-KISS Lee Jun Young, to H.O.T, “Mask Girl” turns into a gathering of idols.

Netflix’s “Mask Girl” gathers a lineup of A-list stars, and fans quickly noticed a series of Kpop idols taking part of the show. Not only participating in the main cast, but these idols also make surprising cameo appearances.

In “Mask Girl,” Nana takes on the role of the female lead Kim Mo Mi in the second phase of her life, after undergoing plastic surgery and changing her name to Ah Reum. Living up to her title as the “world’s most beautiful face,” Nana captivates with both her stunning visuals and remarkable acting.

Born in 1991, Nana debuted as a member of After School and its subunit Orange Caramel. Standing at 171 cm tall with a well-proportioned body figure, she won an award at the 2009 Supermodel Contest for the Asia-Pacific region. Nana became the first Korean star to rank No.1 in TC Candler’s “100 Most Beautiful Faces in the World” for two consecutive years, surpassing even top Western stars. After shifting her focus to acting, she has achieved numerous accomplishments.

Even though EXID’s Junghwa only appears briefly in 2 episodes, she still leaves an impression with her sweet visuals.

In “Mask Girl,” U-KISS’s Lee Jun Young takes on a role similar to his real-life journey – starting as an idol trainee and later debuting in an idol group. Despite sporting a 1990s hairstyle, he doesn’t fall short in terms of visuals.

“Mask Girl” also gathers a remarkable lineup of idol cameos. These idols appear in dialogues and short scenes, quickl creating a buzz on social media.

A scene set in 2023 include a mention of NCT. When the character Ye Chun wants to blend in with a group of friends, she mentions the “multitude of members” in NCT, accompanied by the exact expression of hardcore fan girl.

VICTON’s case is particularly special, as the group’s members are aware of and excited about their unexpected appearance in “Mask Girl.” Specifically, VICTON’s photocards appear in a scene. Fans quickly asked Subin: “Have you watched Mask Girl? VICTON’s photocard is in it.” Subin responded to the fan: “I’ve seen it, Mask Girl is the best.”

Seungsik, being a fan of the original webtoon, felt moved to be part of the drama: “I saw VICTON’s photocard in Mask Girl. When I was young, I liked the original webtoon a lot, so I was really looking forward to the news of Mask Girl being adapted into a drama. I feel grateful and honored.
