JYP Entertainment (JYP)’s Chinese boy group Boy Story won the Rising Group of the Year award at the Weibo Music Awards 2022.
Boy Story received the Rising Group of the Year award at the Weibo Music Awards 2022 held at the Daxing Xingguang Film Center, Beijing, China on Jan 18th.
This award is given to the group that achieved a remarkable increase in popularity through active activities in this year. Boy Story lifted the trophy at the Weibo Music Awards for the first time, proving their local popularity again.
Boy Story heated up the scene and drew attention with their intense performance.
They performed the title song “WW” of their first full-length album released in September 2022. The group’s strong points, including sharp group dance and acrobatic choreography, were well received. Right after the performance, the hashtags “BOY STORY Opening Stage” and “BOY STORY Growth” were on Weibo’s real-time hot chart search terms.
The video of the “Weibo Music Awards 2022” featuring Boy Story surpassed 83 million views as of the morning of Jan 19th.
Boy Story released their first full-length album “WE” in September last year.
As of Nov 3rd, 2022, the title song “WW” ranked third on the real-time chart provided by the U.S. Billboard’s “Billboard Hot Trending Songs Powered by Twitter”, and became the first Chinese idol to be listed on the chart. It re-entered No.4 at 5 PM on Dec 23rd, No.5 at 7 PM on Dec 30th, No.4 at 11 AM on Jan 2nd, 2023, No.6 on Jan 9th and No.10 on Jan 10th.
