Actor Donnie Yen, “Song Ji Hyo said she was my fan. ‘Running Man’ members treated me nicely despite their poor Chinese”

Hong Kong actor Donnie Yen expressed his feelings after carrying out movie promotional schedules in Korea.

On the morning of January 20th, Donnie Yen brought up various stories during the interview for the movie “Sakra” held at a cafe in Palpan-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul.

Appearing at the interview wearing fancy sunglasses, Donnie Yen talked about his promotional activities in Korea, including the filming of “Running Man” amid his busy schedule. The actor, who came to Korea to promote the new film “Sakra” in which he was credited as a producer, director and cast actor, is actively joining TV programs, such as SBS’s “Running Man”, KBS 1TV’s “A.M. Plaza”, etc.

Regarding his tight schedule in Korea, Donnie Yen said, “I’m always busy. I’m already used to doing tight schedules and flying from place to place. There were times when I didn’t even know what country I was in.”

He continued, “As soon as I arrived in Korea, I worked. That’s why I haven’t had time to see and feel things in Korea. I’m going back to Hong Kong for promotional activities today. It’s like the fate of a movie actor”, expressing his regrets.

Donnie Yen mentioned Ji Seok Jin, Kim Jong Kook and Song Ji Hyo as “Running Man” members who impressed him the most. The actor shared, “I’m telling you this very carefully because I don’t know how it would be edited”, adding “There were difficulties during the filming as I had to communicate through an interpreter, but everyone was so kind to me.”

He said, “I remember that Kim Jong Kook and Ji Seok Jin treated me very nicely despite their poor Chinese”, adding “Song Ji Hyo also left an impression on me. She said she had liked me for a long time and that he was my fan. We took photos together and they were very friendly and kind to me.”

In addition, Donnie Yen also expressed his thoughts on Korean films, saying “Korean movies and the level of Korean actors’ acting performances are all amazing”. He continued, “There is a movie language for movies. There is no barrier”, adding “Good movies captivate viewers’ hearts. When I traveled to different places to promote a movie in the past, I heard the same message from viewers around the world who were touched by the movie’s story”.

Donnie Yen participated in the production of “Sakra” playing many different roles, including director, producer, martial arts director and even actor. Revealing that he is into directing these days, Donnie Yen said, “I love editing and I’m interested in choosing music that fits the movies”.

When asked, “Is there any Korean actor you would like to work with?”, he replied, “Art develops when we provoke each other”, adding that he always wants to find new actors every time he films a new project. Donnie Yen said, “Any good actor is always welcome”, giving an answer from the perspective of a director.
