JYP Rookie Developing Staff Explains Why She Keeps Distance With Idols After Their Debut

A staff from JYP revealed the reason she cut contact with all the students she trained after they debuted

On February 29th, the YouTube channel “SSUPLY” released a new video showing Lee Seok-hoon visiting JYP Entertainment building and talking with JYP staff.

Together with TWICE’s Jihyo, Lee Seok-hoon toured around the company building. The first place he visited was the practice room. There, he met a staff member from JYP’s rookie developing team.

The staff introduced herself as a training teacher who has been working at JYP for 12 years and has raised many JYP idols, including Jihyo, who joined the company even before her.

Regarding the difficulties in her work, the staff shared, “When the trainees don’t listen to me. That’s because they are still young. It’s similar to school. They don’t do homework and come to practice late”. Jihyo added, “In my case, I couldn’t lose weight so I got scolded a lot”.

Lee Seok-hoon then asked, “Do you keep in contact with the trainees even after their debut?”. The staff surprised everyone as she replied, “I personally do not keep in contact at all”.

She explained, “When they debut, I think my job is done. There’s a big difference in atmosphere. For them, they want to rely on the past and want to complain, but that’s what they have to face by themselves. The more affection I have, the more distance I keep.”
