Jung Ho Yeon, Song Kang Ho, and more, Korean stars mention in “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” press conference

The director and cast members of “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” express their fond feelings for several Korean artists. 

The highly acclaimed animated film “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” has been attracting global attention, including in Korea.

On June 14th, a virtual press conference for “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” was held in Korea, with the attendance of Director Kemp Powers, as well as the voice actors Shameik Moore and Hailee Steinfeld, who portrayed the main characters.

“Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” tells the story of the new Spider-Man, Miles Morales (voiced by Shameik Moore), who joins forces with multiple Spider-Men from different dimensions to restore order in the multiverse and confront villains. 

Kemp Powers, the director of “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” is also known as the creator and screenwriter of the film “One Night in Miami” (2020), as well as for his screenplay and co-direction of Disney Pixar’s animation film “Soul”.

When asked about Korean artists they like or would like to collaborate with, Kemp Powers, Shameik Moore, and Hailee Steinfeld all enthusiastically expressed their opinions. Shameik Moore mentioned his favorite Korean brand and humorously said, “If they want to sponsor me, they can contact me.” 

Meanwhile, Hailee Steinfeld mentioned Jung Ho Yeon from the drama series “Squid Game”, whom she met at the Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG), praised her as a fantastic actress, and expressed the desire to work with her in the future.

On the other hand, Director Kemp Powers mentioned several Korean actors and directors. He specifically mentioned Song Kang Ho, saying, “Song Kang Ho comes to mind first. He has shown outstanding performances in films such as ‘Parasite’, ‘Broker’, ‘The Host’, and ‘Snowpiercer’, and I have followed his works.” 

The director also praised director Bong Joon Ho as one of the greatest directors of our time, at the same time stating that he likes the ability to harmonize action and horror of “Train to Busan” director Yeon Sang Ho.
