On November 6, Jun Ji Hyun appeared on the YouTube channel “Study King Real Genius Hong Jin Kyung” in a video titled “Jun Ji Hyun’s First YouTube Appearance: Her Full Life Story from Debut to Marriage.” The video was styled as a skit talk show where Jun appeared alongside actresses Hong Jin Kyung, Jang Young Ran, and Lee Ji Hye, who played her sisters. The show was hosted by Nam Chang Hee.

In the video, Jun Ji Hyun revealed that she met her husband through a blind date. “I wasn’t planning to go because it felt like too much pressure. But somehow, even though my heart said no, my body showed up,” she said humorously.

She added that her friend who arranged the meeting had praised her future husband’s looks, which piqued her interest despite her hesitation. “My friend said he was really handsome. So even if I wasn’t feeling it mentally, I still ended up going.”

Describing her first impression, she said, “He really was as handsome as they said.” When told that her husband was nicknamed the “Jang Dong Gun of Euljiro,” she replied, “Probably because his office is there. I think I really fell for him at first sight.”

Jun Ji Hyun’s husband is Choi Joon Hyuk, CEO of Alpha Asset Management. The couple met in 2010 through mutual acquaintances and married in 2012. They have two sons. Choi comes from a prestigious family—he is the son of fashion designer Lee Jung Woo and the maternal grandson of the late Hanbok (traditional Korean attire) designer Lee Young Hee.

Jun Ji Hyun divorce rumors husband love story

Despite their fairy-tale romance, the couple was hit with divorce rumors in 2021. A YouTube channel at the time claimed they were living separately. In response, Jun Ji Hyun’s agency firmly denied the allegations, stating: “We clearly state that all rumors about Jun Ji Hyun’s divorce or separation mentioned in that broadcast are entirely baseless.” They also warned of legal action against the spread of false information through broadcasts and gossip.

Choi Joon Hyuk took a witty approach to the situation. He changed his KakaoTalk profile picture to a parody of a scene from the manga Slam Dunk. In the edited version, the character Hisashi Mitsui’s iconic line “I want to play basketball” was altered to say, “I want to be Jun Ji Hyun’s husband.”

Jun Ji Hyun’s mother-in-law also posted a cryptic message, writing “Today is such an infuriating day,” expressing her displeasure with the unfounded rumors surrounding her son and daughter-in-law.

With her heartfelt confession and lighthearted anecdotes, Jun Ji Hyun has not only quelled the speculation but reminded fans why she’s one of Korea’s most adored stars—both on and off screen.
