JTBC announced its decision regarding the controversial “Snowdrop” of Jung Hae-in and Jisoo

JTBC has expressed its position on the controversy over “Snowdrop”.

JTBC said in a statement released on Dec 21st, “The motive behind “Snowdrop”’s background and major events is the presidential political situation amidst a military regime. Against this backdrop, the drama tells a fictional story of a government engaging with the North Korean regime to maintain its power. “Snowdrop” is a creation that shows the personal narratives of those who were used and sacrificed by those in power,” it explained.

“There is no spy leading the democratization movement. The details in which the male and female protagonists participate in or lead the democratization movement did not appear in the first and second episodes, and there is none of such anywhere else in the script after that as well,” it added.

They said, “Many people have recently expressed concerns about ‘history distortion’ and ‘disparaging the democratic movement’. However, most of the misunderstandings will be resolved when more developments of the drama are revealed in the future. This drama contains the production team’s intention for an abnormal era in which individual freedom and happiness are suppressed by unfair power to not be repeated. It’s a regret that we can’t reveal more about the plot before the broadcast, but please keep watching the drama’s developments in the next episodes.”

The core value that JTBC pursues is the freedom of content creation and independence of production. Based on this, JTBC will do its best to reveal more good works in the future.”
