On April 1, veteran actress Sunwoo Yong-yeo shared a video on her YouTube channel documenting a visit to Jo Kwon’s home, marking their first reunion in 15 years.

During the video, Jo Kwon spoke candidly about his family, revealing that his mother was diagnosed with melanoma (a form of skin cancer) while he was serving in the military. He shared that she had to undergo a partial amputation as part of her treatment.

He also disclosed that his father battled colorectal cancer and underwent four surgeries last year, a situation that significantly impacted his ability to continue activities. “Because of that, I couldn’t work much. I’m an only child, so it was hard for my mother to take care of everything alone. I went back and forth whenever I had time,” he explained.

Jo Kwon further revealed that he has faced his own health issues, including low blood pressure and low blood sugar. He admitted to experiencing episodes of cold sweats and even fainting in the past. He recalled, “I’ve collapsed before, even back when I was on variety shows like ‘Sebakwi.’”

Despite the hardships, Jo Kwon recently made his return to music with his new single Like I Do , released on March 27. Sunwoo Yong-yeo expressed her support, saying she hopes Jo Kwon can now live a happier and healthier life after enduring such difficult times.

His story has resonated with fans, shedding light on the unseen personal sacrifices behind his temporary absence, and highlighting his strength as both an artist and a son.
