On the April 1 episode of tvN’s You Quiz on the Block, Lee Chan-hyuk and Lee Su-hyun appeared as guests and shared insights into their new agency following their departure from YG Entertainment after nearly 12 years.
The duo revealed they founded a one-person agency called “Inspiration Spring” (영감의 샘터), a name inspired by the question Lee Chan-hyuk has frequently received throughout his career: “Where do you get your inspiration?” He explained, “I thought, why not say the place we’re in is the source of inspiration itself? We always ‘scoop up’ inspiration from here.”
In line with this concept, employees are referred to as “Inspiration-nim” (영감님), emphasizing that everyone contributes creatively to the company. The company’s internal titles are equally unique. Lee Chan-hyuk is called “Saemteo-jang” (Head of the Spring), while Lee Su-hyun is affectionately referred to as “Princess.” Even in formal work situations, staff address her as “Princess,” creating a playful yet distinctive work environment.
When asked about employee benefits, one staff member humorously admitted initial concerns about a downgrade compared to previous jobs. However, after two months, he shared, “It’s actually better than I expected. I feel like I could bet my life on this job.” The candid response prompted laughter in the studio, with Lee Chan-hyuk appearing satisfied while Lee Su-hyun reacted in surprise.
Having debuted through K-pop Star Season 2 in 2012 and officially entering the industry in 2014, AKMU recently began a new chapter by establishing their independent agency after their contract with YG Entertainment ended in December.
With its creative philosophy and unconventional structure, Lee Chan-hyuk’s company is already sparking curiosity about how it will shape the duo’s future projects.
