tvN’s “Jinny’s Kitchen” is gaining global popularity as it is released on the global OTT Amazon Prime Video for the first time for a Korean entertainment format.
Korean television has been making waves globally. “Jinny’s Kitchen” has made history as the first Korean variety show to be featured on Amazon Prime Video, gaining worldwide popularity.
According to FlixPatrol, an OTT ranking aggregation site, “Jinny’s Kitchen” has already reached 15th place in the “Most Watched TV Shows” category on Amazon Prime Video worldwide as of March 26 (Korean time). It has entered the top 10 in 12 countries and regions, including Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, and more.
The show features actors Lee Seo Jin, Jung Yumi, Park Seo Joon, Choi Woo Sik, and BTS member V, as they run a snack bar in the famous Mexican resort of Bacalar.
The program showcases the exotic scenery of Bacalar and the highly recognized cast has successfully attracted the attention of international viewers. It has received a high rating of 9.5 out of 10 from over 2,800 viewers on the US review site IMDb.
The popularity of “Jinny’s Kitchen” has drawn attention from international media as it has achieved high rankings on an OTT platform, not as a K-drama but as a K-variety show.
Indian media outlet The Economic Times and US media outlet Metro Philadelphia have both reported on the show’s popularity, stating that it will continue the trend of Korean K-pop, movies, and dramas worldwide.
The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) has also highlighted “Jinny’s Kitchen,” along with Netflix’s “Physical: 100” and MBC’s “I Live Alone,” as the next trend for reality shows, predicting that it will become the next-generation K-contents trend.
