SHAVING is an upcoming Netflix original historical fantasy film inspired by Korean folklore surrounding the Dokkaebi (goblins). The project is being produced by Onda Works, the studio behind a blockbuster film that surpassed 10 million moviegoers, making it one of the industry’s most anticipated upcoming productions. Blending Korean mythology with period drama and fantasy, SHAVING has attracted significant attention since its early development.

The film will be directed by Ahn Tae Jin, best known for directing the critically acclaimed film The Night Owl and the upcoming drama Second Signal.

Previously, Kim Do Hoon was confirmed as the film’s lead actor. Meanwhile, Lee Joon Gi is reportedly reviewing an offer to portray the movie’s powerful villain. The potential collaboration has drawn additional interest because Ahn Tae Jin previously worked as an assistant director on Lee Joon Gi’s iconic historical film The King and the Clown. If Lee Joon Gi accepts the role, SHAVING would mark another collaboration between the two filmmakers years after their first project together.

Since making her acclaimed debut in 2018 with director Lee Chang Dong’s film Burning, Jeon Jong Seo has established herself as one of Korea’s most versatile actresses. Her portrayal of a serial killer in Netflix’s The Call (2021) earned widespread critical acclaim, winning Best Actress honors at both the Baeksang Arts Awards and the Director’s Cut Awards.

She has since showcased her versatility across multiple genres, including: Nothing Serious (romantic comedy), Ballerina (Netflix revenge action film), Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area, Bargain, Wedding Impossible, Queen Woo. Her ability to seamlessly transition between film and television has made her one of the industry’s most sought-after stars.

Jeon Jong Seo continues to expand her global career in 2026. Following her transformation in Project Y, she has also confirmed appearances in the occult thriller Rock and the Hollywood reboot of Highlander. Should she officially join SHAVING, the Netflix historical fantasy could become another major milestone in her rapidly growing international filmography.

Combining Korean mythology, historical storytelling, and fantasy, SHAVING is shaping up to be one of Netflix’s most ambitious Korean original films. With acclaimed director Ahn Tae Jin, powerhouse production company Onda Works, and a potential cast featuring Kim Do Hoon, Lee Joon Gi, and Jeon Jong Seo, expectations for the project continue to rise.

While Jeon Jong Seo’s casting has yet to be officially finalized, her reported involvement has already made SHAVING one of the most closely watched Korean productions currently in development.
