Jeon Do Yeon’s “Kill Boksoon” beat Song Hye Kyo’s “The Glory” to top the content chart in first week of April

Kinolights unveiled the chart of popular OTT contents (movies and dramas) in the past week.

Netflix’s crime action movie “Kill Boksoon” (directed by Byun Sung Hyun/ produced by See At Film) beat Netflix’s original series “The Glory Part 2” (written by Kim Eun Sook/ directed by Ahn Gil Ho) to get the No.1 spot on the content rankings.

OTT search and content recommendation platform Kinolights announced content rankings in the first week of April (from April 1st ~ 7th).

Released on March 31st, “Kill Boksoon” surpassed “The Glory” Part 2 and became the new No.1 film. Starring Jeon Do Yeon, Seol Kyung Gu, Esom, etc., this action movie centers around Gil Bok Soon, a legendary killer in the contract murder industry. It has captivated global viewers with unique and eye-catching action scenes.

The 2015 action film “John Wick”, starring Keanu Reeves, came in 2nd place. It rose significantly from last week’s 6th place. Prior to “John Wick: Chapter 4” premiere on April 12th, the entire series is gaining popularity again on OTT platforms. In particular, all the movies of films in the same series, including “John Wick”, “John Wick: Chapter 2”, and “John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum”, are staying in Top 10.

“Duty After School”, which was released on TVing on March 31st, ranked No.3. This drama tells about high school seniors who are forced to enter a war to fight against the attack of a mysterious creature that covered the sky. The new and intense material of “Duty After School” is arousing keen interest from viewers around the world.

4th place went to the 2017 film “Your Name” directed by Makoto Shinkai. Meanwhile, the director’s other works, such as “Suzume no Tojimari” and “Weathering with You”, were in last week’s Top 10 but fell out of the rankings this week.

SBS’s Friday-Saturday series “Taxi Driver 2” was named in 5th place. The drama, which introduces new thrilling revenge every week, broke its own viewer rating peak by recording 18.3% in episode 14, which aired on April 8th. There are only two episodes left until it ends.

“The Glory” Part 2, which had dominated the top position for the past three weeks, dropped 7 spots to 8th place. “Avatar: The Way of Water”, which is attracting attention with its OTT release 3 months after theater premiere, and “The Night Owl”, which has been available on Disney+ since March 29th, ranked 6th and 10th, respectively, on the list.
