Jennie’s Label ODD ATELIER is Even Worse than YG, Said Fans

ODD ATELIER, the personal label of BLACKPINK’s Jennie, is receiving immense criticisms from fans for its incompetence.

On April 1st, South Korean news outlet News1 reported exclusively that BLACKPINK’s Jennie would officially release a solo album in June. However, just 7 hours later, a representative from ODD ATELIER – the personal label of Jennie, denied News1’s claim and asserted that “nothing has been confirmed yet.”

“Jennie is working on new songs. However, the release date has not been discussed, nor is it confirmed whether the release will be an album or EP”, the agency also stated.

This has led to disappointment and complaints from some of Jennie’s fans about the female idol’s lack of comeback even after leaving YG Entertainment.

It is known that Jennie had few solo schedules other than being a brand ambassador and contracts with fashion brands while she was still with YG. Therefore, when she established her own company, many people hoped the female idol would have more opportunities and expand her reputation, breaking free from the “restraints” of the previous management company.

However, at present, Jennie’s fans are evaluating ODD ATELIER to be even worse than YG. They emphasized that the recent variety show she participated in – “Apartment 404” – failed to attract viewers due its boring format. Despite Jennie’s presence, the viewer ratings continuously declined.

Additionally, Jennie recently featured in Matt Champion’s “Slow Motion”. However, the song received absolutely no promotion, leading to little attention despite Jennie’s huge publicity.

ODD ATELIER are also being alleged of being incompetent, always making mistakes, and ignoring fans’ opinions and perspectives.

Recently, on April 4th, South Korean media also reported exclusively that Jennie would collaborate with Zico and release a song in April. This is not just a musical collaboration, as the BLACKPINK member will also appear in the Zico’s MV as a show of support for the 10th anniversary of the male rapper’s debut.

According to TenAsia, when Zico proposed this collaboration to Jennie, she readily accepted – proving the close friendship between the two. However, Zico’s management company stated that this information is difficult to confirm, and ODD ATELIER was also slow to response, irking fans.

Is ODD ATELIER truly incompetent?

It must be added that the criticisms aimed at ODD ATELIER stem from the fact that the company denied Jennie’s solo return in June. The reason for the controversy also comes from the fact that fans seem overly eager for the idol’s comeback, so when they hadn’t had time to celebrate, they were hit with “cold water,” causing peak disappointment.

However, it must be clearly acknowledged that Jennie only established her company about 4 months ago, and her solo activities during this time have “outdone” her time under YG.

Just in April 2024, Jennie has in hand 6 global campaigns, participates in variety shows and talk shows, and drops a collaboration. Even South Korean media has marveled at Jennie’s schedule, affirming that the female idol’s solo career is kicking off right after leaving YG.

In addition, a representative from ODD ATELIER also previously asserted that Jennie would not participate in any other variety shows after “Apartment 404” to focus on making her album. And she herself confirmed with fans that she would try to release a solo album in 2024.

Therefore, this period is undoubtedly when Jennie is concentrating on completing her solo album and releasing it at the most suitable and perfect time. Now more than ever, instead of being overly excited and pointing fingers at their idol, Jennie’s fans probably need to be more patient and wait for the official announcement from the female idol.
