At the 2022 Incheon Pentaport Rock Festival held at Songdo Moonlight Festival Park in Incheon on August 6th, Jannabi Choi Jung-hoon said, “We started as Pentaport Super Rookie in 2014 and was the first performance on the smallest stage,” adding, “But we have come all the way here little by little.”

“The high ground is not far away. One team taking over is enough. I don’t know who the next team is. But I’d like to tell you this. We’ll take over the Pentaport,” he said. “Everyone, go home now. We’ll play “Come Back Home” and leave.”

Controversy arose over member Choi Jung-hoon’s remarks, which is seen as a rude comment and not considerable towards the American band Vampire Weekend, who was waiting for the next stage as the concert’s headliner, and the audience who were waiting for them.

As the controversy grew, Jannabi apologized, “We were unable to overcome the excitement of the stage and the wonderful audience that we have always dreamed of, which led to this inconvenience to other bands and the audience,” adding, “I never meant it, but I didn’t realize it could be seen as something like that.”

“We will be careful not to make such a mistake in the future. We will do our best to come back with better music and performances.”

The following is the full text of Jannabi’s apology.

I’d like to talk to everyone about my remarks during the Pentaport Rock Festival yesterday. We were unable to overcome the excitement of the stage and the wonderful audience that we have always dreamed of, which led to our light words causing this inconvenience to other bands and the audience. I never meant it, but I didn’t realize it could be seen as something like that. I will be careful not to make such a slip of the tongue from now on. We will do our best to come back with better music and performances. Thank you for being with us!”
