Jang Nara and Jang Hyuk reunite after nine years in the drama “Family”.
This marks Jang Hyuk and Jang Nara’s fourth collaboration on the screen after “Successful Story of a Bright Girl” (2002), “You Are My Destiny” (2014), and “Drama Festival 2014 – Old Farewell”. Will they be able to recreate their past success?
At the tvN drama “Family” press conference on April 12th, Jang Nara said, “After reading the script, I found it interesting, and when I heard that Jang Hyuk was my co-star, I said, ‘Then I have to do it.’ He makes me feel comfortable, and he takes care of everything I miss during filming.”
She added, “Recently, he told me, ‘I feel like we were brother and sister in a past life,’ and it really feels like that. If he says, ‘Let’s work together again,’ I would readily do it. I want to work together even on a long-running drama like ‘Jumong’.”
Jang Nara expressed her desire for the drama to succeed, saying, “I hope it is successful. I want it to be successful.”
Jang Hyuk laughed and said, “We agreed to meet in a historical drama within five years. I have seen Jang Nara’s acting in her 20s and 30s, and now she has a mature feel to her. I don’t have the thought of ‘how can I impress her.’ She just takes care of everything. Even in a romantic comedy, it’s not easy to make it realistic, but with Jang Nara, we balance the realistic parts.”
“Family” tells the story of Kang Yoo Ra (Jang Nara), a woman who dreams of a perfect family, and Kwon Do Hoon (Jang Hyuk), an agent at the National Intelligence Service disguised as an ordinary office worker.
Director Jang said, “I am a big fan of Jang Nara and Jang Hyuk. I have always wanted to see them together again. Their chemistry is great, and they have a way of communicating just through eye contact. There were times when we only had to shoot two takes because the ideas were overflowing, and it felt like we were shooting without any direction.”
“Family” will air its first episode on April 17th at 8:50 pm KST
