Singer-actress IU was praised by her big senior Song Kang-ho.
On May 10th, the press conference of the movie “Broker” (directed by famous Japanese director Hirokazu Kore-eda) was held at Yongsan CGV in Yongsan-gu, Seoul.
On this day, Song Kang-ho, IU and Kang Dong-won, the main actors of “Broker“, gathered to talk about the movie. Song Kang-ho lavished praise on IU for her first lead role in a commercial film. He stuck out his thumb, “I was really amazed at the techniques IU has and the way she conveyed emotions as an actress.” Song Kang-ho then said he called IU over and complimented her on the set, adding that he had never praised Kang Dong-won.
IU said she remembers that time clearly and recalled that receiving praise from Song Kang-ho was a very impressive moment in her entire life.
IU even shyly shared that she was so happy to receive his compliment that she shed tears. IU confessed, “Song Kang-ho, who finished all the filming, was waiting for me without leaving work. When I ran to say hello (to Song Kang-ho), he praised the scenes I filmed and then left.”
IU brightly revealed, “The back view of Song Kang-ho’s car moving away was as beautiful and touching as a movie. I bragged to my parents when I got home.”
The movie “Broker” revolves around characters associated with baby boxes, which allow infants to be dropped off anonymously to be cared for by others.
In this work, IU played the role of So-young, a mother who abandoned her newborn baby in a baby box on a rainy day.
“Broker” was selected for the competition section of the 75th Cannes Film Festival. It will be released for the first time as a world premiere, and will be released in Korea on June 8th.
