IU’s impressive global popularity truly shows at the airport in France.
Singer and actress IU/Lee Ji Eun arrived at the Nice Côte d’Azur Airport in France to attend the 75th Cannes Film Festival on May 24th local time. Although she landed past midnight, IU was instantly surrounded by a lot of fans who were waiting for her at the departure gate.
IU, who is famous for her love for fans, warmly greeted her foreign fans with bright expressions. Because the crowd was chaotic, she worried the fans would get hurt so she told them to be careful. She touched fans’ hearts by receiving various letters and gifts from fans and holding them tightly. Even when she got into the car, IU couldn’t take her eyes off the fans who came to see her.
To a reporter’s question if she felt nervous about coming to Cannes, IU answered, “I’m out of my mind and so tired now.” When asked if she expected so many fans to be waiting for her arrival at the airport, IU said, “I didn’t expect it at all.”
IU will begin her official schedules at the Cannes Film Festival as actress Lee Ji Eun starting from May 25th. She is set to appear on the red carpet of Cannes through the official screening of “Broker” on May 26th.
Officially hitting theaters on June 8th, “Broker” tells the story of people who become involved around the “baby box”, which is designed to allow people who cannot raise children to leave their babies anonymously. In the movie, IU plays a single mother named Soyoung.
