IU sang live perfectly despite her in-ear not working, “I feel like I’m left alone in the stadium”

IU had a flawless live performance at her concert even when her in-ear was not functioning properly.

On September 17 and 18, IU held her solo concert “The Golden Hour: Under the Orange Sun” at the Olympic Main Stadium in Jamsil Sports Complex, Seoul. IU is the first Korean female singer in history to hold a concert at the Jamsil Olympic main stadium.

The Jamsil Olympic main stadium has 69,950 seats and can accommodate up to 100,000 people including standing seats. It is the largest concert hall in Korea.  About 130,000 attendees were present at IU’s concert on September 17 and 18.

When IU sang “This is Right Now” and “Every End of the Day”, she burst into laughter alone and said, “My in-ear isn’t working. I feel like I have been left alone in the main stadium.” IU wowed fans as she sang live so perfectly that no one noticed her in-ear was malfunctioning.

At the concert, IU sang “Strawberry Moon” while flying inside a hot air balloon. As she made eye contact with the fans on the second and third floors, IU looked at her fans lovingly while waving her hands.

While singing “Hold My Hand”, IU removed her in-ear during the performance. IU said, “During 3 years of not being able to hold a concert, ‘Strawberry Moon’ came out and ‘Hold My Hand’ also climbed back up the charts.”

IU expressed gratitude for the fans’ loud cheers for her, saying, “The fanchant during ‘Hold My Hand’ was out of this world. I got goosebumps even though I had a problem with my ear.”
