IU recently shared a glimpse into her latest transformation as a chaebol heiress while filming the drama Perfect Crown, along with a lighthearted story that sparked a playful “personality controversy.”
On April 22, a behind-the-scenes video from the drama set was uploaded to IU’s YouTube channel. While waiting on set at Grand Prince I-an’s residence set, IU spoke about her role, saying, “It’s my first time playing a company leader. Man Wol in Hotel Del Luna also had a CEO-like vibe, but this time, the scale is completely different,” expressing her excitement.

Fully immersed in her character Hui Ju, a top conglomerate heir, IU showed confidence that matched the role. Even when she couldn’t sit in the main seat on set, she joked, “It will all be mine anyway,” revealing her character’s ambitious personality. She added, “The CEO role suits me quite well, and I feel a sense of responsibility.”
She also shared how she spent her downtime, saying, “I read books and reviewed scripts. I also watched KPop Demon Hunters and Squid Game 3, so I had a fulfilling break.”
Filming continued in Gyeongju during a hot summer night, with temperatures nearing 30°C. Despite the heat, IU performed passionately in velvet costumes. She also kept the mood lively on set, joking around with co-star Byeon Woo Seok’s publicity team and chatting with staff about highway rest stop snacks.

The “controversy” began when IU mentioned what she did on the way to Gyeongju. “I bought walnut pastries and tteokbokki at a rest stop,” she said. A staff member jokingly replied, “We stopped in Mungyeong—did you eat alone? There are ten of us. That’s Hui Ju’s personality!”
Caught off guard, IU playfully rolled her eyes and responded, “At least you can’t say that about IU’s personality,” while praising the staff’s kindness, drawing laughter. She then added with a bright smile, “I didn’t know! If I had, I would’ve thrown a party.”
Another anecdote revealed that IU had been eager to try a local “10 won bread” before filming in Gyeongju. She happily shared that her co-star bought it for her, and also recalled casually sharing tteokbokki with her manager at a rest stop, showing her down-to-earth charm.
Toward the end of the video, IU wrapped up filming at 1 a.m. without showing signs of fatigue, expressing gratitude to the staff.
