Is Song Joong Ki’s chemistry with Shin Hyun Been the worst among his female co-stars?

Song Joong Ki has starred in various works, and had various lovelines. However, he has never faced chemistry controversy up until “Reborn Rich”.

Having starred in various movies and K-dramas, Song Joong Ki has also played lovers with various female co-stars, and most of the time, completely steals the audience’s hearts with overflowing chemistry. Below is a recap of Song Joong Ki’s love lines throughout his career.

A Werewolf Boy

In 2012, Song Joong Ki acted alongside actress Park Bo Young in “A Werewolf Boy”, nailing his first leading movie character. Here, he transformed into Chul Soo, who knows little about humanity, and has only ever received love from Soon Yi (Park Bo Young). While Soon Yi and Chul Soo never become a couple, it is easy to see their affections for each other, and even though Chul Soo cannot speak flowery words, love can be seen through their every action and gaze. “A Werewolf Boy” is such, overflowing with chemistry, even though there’s no grand declaration nor kiss.

A Werewolf Boy

Compared to “A Werewolf Boy”, the 2012 series “The Innocent Man” is way more dramatic, and the same can be said for Song Joong Ki and Moon Chae Won’s character inside this drama. In particular, both Kang Ma Roo (Song Joong Ki) and Seo Eun Gi (Moon Chae Won) are jaded characters who approached each other with hidden motives. They eventually fell in love, but their romance was still filled with sorrows, deceits, and desperation, and Song Joong Ki and Moon Chae Won both pulled this off perfectly. It is no exaggeration to say that this love line is one of the most intriguing there is, and the couple’s chemistry was also off the charts.

Next, there is Song Hye Kyo and Song Joong Ki in “Descendants of the Sun”, whose characters are both headstrong and stubborn, yet confident in their love. Seeing that Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo fell in love and got married after this work, there’s no denying the fact that their chemistry was insane. The couple delivered all sorts of emotions, from happy and sweet, hilarity and jealousy, to pain and resignation. In fact, this love line was a major reason behind the huge success of “Descendants of the Sun”.

Kim Ji Won is another actress whose chemistry with Song Joong Ki is praised for being natural and enjoyable. From “Descendants of the Sun” to “Arthdal Chronicles”, even when their characters do not have a loveline, their face combination alone is enough to make viewers’ hearts flutter.

Arthdal Chronicles

Jeon Yeo Been is the actress who is most shipped with Song Joong Ki in the last 2 years thanks to the success of “Vincenzo”. In “Vincenzo”, they are each other’s perfect partner. They team up with each other to fight the bad guy and end up falling in love. Romance is not the focus of “Vincenzo”, but that doesn’t stop Song Joong Ki and Jeon Yeo Been’s sizzling chemistry from stealing fans’ hearts and even making them root for the two to be a couple in real life.

Shin Hyun Been is Song Joong Ki’s latest K-drama love interest. Although Shin Hyun Been is also an actress loved for both her visuals and skills, her chemistry with Song Joong Ki in “Reborn Rich” is getting divided opinions. Some viewers claim they don’t see the spark between Song Joong Ki and Shin Hyun Been. Some even complain about the two’s loveline being bland and unnecessary amid the intense chaebol succession plot of “Reborn Rich”.

“Reborn Rich” has entered the second act of its run. Many viewers are still hoping that there will be stimulating scenes between Song Joong Ki and Shin Hyun Been so that they do not end up getting listed as a “failed” K-drama couple despite the success of “Reborn Rich”.
