At just 19 years old, rising Japanese-Filipino actress Imamori Maya has seen her once-promising career crumble overnight. According to NHK on November 9, the young starlet’s reputation in the Japanese entertainment industry was completely tarnished following a series of rapid-fire scandals.
The first bombshell was Imamori Maya’s alleged affair with married actor Asai Kosuke (41), which sent shockwaves through the public and media. While the public was still reeling, another explosive detail emerged: Maya was also romantically involved with a football player during the same period, raising accusations of being both a “homewrecker” and “two-timer.”

Just as the controversy began to simmer, Maya was hit with another scandal underage drinking. Japanese law strictly prohibits the consumption of alcohol and tobacco by individuals under the age of 20. This violation ignited widespread outrage and scrutiny.
As the backlash intensified, Maya’s agency Seju swiftly announced the termination of her contract and issued a formal apology to business partners affected by the negative publicity. Maya then deleted all content from her social media platforms and issued an apology to the public:
“My improper actions have caused trouble and distress to many people. I sincerely apologize. Drinking alcohol before reaching legal age and getting involved in personal controversies are shameful behaviors that cannot be justified under any circumstances. I fully understand the severity of my actions and am reflecting deeply. I apologize once again to my fans, colleagues, and everyone impacted. I vow to reflect on my immaturity and adjust my lifestyle to avoid repeating these mistakes.”

The fallout continued as the producers of No.1 Sentai Gozyuger officially removed her from the main cast. Broadcaster TV Asahi also confirmed they would pull all programs featuring Maya. According to Bunshun, the possibility of her returning to the entertainment scene is virtually zero.
Imamori Maya, born in 2006, gained fame as a viral beauty on TikTok during her high school years. In 2023, she won the Miss Magazine beauty pageant organized by Kodansha, marking her official debut in showbiz.
