"Queen of Tears" Kim Soo-hyun's steadfast devotion is captivating everyone

In tvN’s Saturday-Sunday drama “Queen of Tears” (written by Park Ji-eun, directed by Jang Young-woo and Kim Hee-won, produced by Studio Dragon, Culture Depot, Showrunners), Baek Hyun-woo (played by Kim Soo-hyun) has captivated viewers with his changing emotions towards his wife Hong Hae-in (played by Kim Ji-won).

Previously, Baek Hyun-woo had considered divorce due to the harsh treatment from his in-laws and his wife pretending not to know about it. Although he had even written a divorce agreement and wanted to end their marriage, he had to stay by Hong Hae-in’s side due to the sudden misfortune that befell her, unable to deliver the divorce papers.

As they spent more time together, Baek Hyun-woo began to gradually recall the feelings he had forgotten about towards his wife. Memories of happy moments, such as the promise made during their dating days that he would stay by her side even if there were debts, started to melt Baek Hyun-woo’s heart.

Following his wife who left for Germany for treatment without saying a word, Baek Hyun-woo’s actions were driven by the sincerity he felt from Hong Hae-in, who expressed her desire to spend her life with him in an interview after retiring. Baek Hyun-woo is throwing himself into protecting Hong Hae-in every moment, staying by Hong Hae-in’s side as he promised, no matter when or what crisis arises.

Especially notable was his willingness to take on the role of a bad husband to create a reason for Hong Hae-in, who had lost the will to live, to live on. His meticulous acts of kindness, such as secretly performing good deeds in his wife’s name, were also highlighted.

Even after they officially divorced, Baek Hyun-woo’s deep affection for anything related to Hong Hae-in touched the hearts of viewers. Despite facing humiliation from being hit with eggs by protesters and being put on standby due to a plot by Yoon Eun-sung (played by Park Sung-hoon), the new chairman of Queens, he pretended as if nothing happened in front of his wife and reassured her with a calm face.

However, despite Baek Hyun-woo’s efforts, when Hong Hae-in finally learns about everything that has happened and draws a line, their relationship once again becomes strained. Feeling hurt that he cannot understand his wife’s true feelings, Baek Hyun-woo, under the influence of alcohol, goes to her room and expresses his feelings, saying “I love you, Hae-in“. His eyes, filled with tenderness and affection, as he whispers love to her through the door evoke a sense of poignancy.

Like this, Baek Hyun-woo has transformed from a man who was determined to end his marriage to someone who loves his wife again and protects her, igniting the emotions of viewers. Above all, Kim Soo-hyun’s acting, delicately portraying Baek Hyun-woo’s emotional journey, has intensified the immersion. As Baek Hyun-woo risks his life for his loved one, the next move of Kim Soo-hyun, who is expressing Baek Hyun-woo’s struggle, is eagerly anticipated.
