Female Idol Cast For Looking Like Go Hyun-jung Is Now A ‘Weekend Drama Fairy’

After KBS’s “Live Your Own Life” ended with a happy ending, viewers also re-examined the first acting experience of the female lead UEE

Actress UEE, also known as a member of the girl group After School, began acting not long after making her debut as an idol. With her diligent activities, UEE is more familiar to the public as an actress than a singer now.

UEE appeared in KBS2’s weekend drama “My Only One” and helped it record the highest viewer rating of 49.4%. As such, she received the nickname “trustworthy actress who guarantees weekend drama success”.

Last year, UEE showed up on KBS2’s entertainment program “Boss in the Mirror” as a special MC and confessed the difficulties she faced when challenging acting for the first time. Recalling the past, she said, “The first drama filming set I went to was for ‘Queen Seondeok’. Playing the young version of senior actress Go Hyun-jung’s character, I joined a shoot in which I had to cry without saying a word. I was so young back then so I didn’t know what scene it was”.

She continued, “The staff kept explaining it, but I didn’t understand what it meant. I remember that it took me a long time to complete the first shoot. It was after my debut with After School and I was only 21 years old”.

Not long after she debuted in 2009, UEE was cast in MBC’s “Queen Seondeok” for having a round face and big eyes similar to that of Go Hyun-jung.  Later, UEE auditioned for several other dramas, such as “You’re Beautiful”, “Ojakgyo Family”, “Jeon Woo-chi”, “Golden Rainbow”, “Hogu’s Love”, “High Society”, “Marriage Contract”, etc., and has been acting for a long time.

Presenting a perfect portrayal of a bright and confident character with her convincing acting and deep expressions of emotional lines in “Live Your Own Life”, UEE not only received favorable reviews from viewers but also won Best Actress at the KBS Drama Awards.

In an interview, the actress expressed her affection for the drama and her feelings after it ended. She shared, “‘Live Your Own Life’ is a project that I worked on for as long as 10 months. First, I want to thank the director, the writer, staff, and other actors for their hard work to complete such a long shooting period without any problems. I think I was able to wrap up this long journey well because we worked together with the same goal.”
