Movie “The Point Men”, starring Hwang Jung Min and Hyun Bin, will premiere on January 18th, 2023.
“The Point Men” directed by Yim Soon Rye (“Forever the Moment”, “The Whistleblower”, “Little Forest”) released its first official poster and trailer and confirmed the release date on January 18th, 2023.
“The Point Men” tells about a diplomat and a NIS (National Intelligence Service) agent who head to Afghanistan to save Koreans who have become hostages of the Taliban in the worst kidnapping case.
The two posters convey the wild and desolate atmosphere in Afghanistan, which is the background of the movie. The first picture captures the scene showing the urgency of a dangerous negotiation operation in an unfamiliar land. The second one reveals the images of Hwang Jung Min, a diplomat specializing in negotiations, and Hyun Bin, a NIS agency, in the middle of a rough desert. From its very first posters, the movie already makes movie fans look forward to how the two will risk their lives to save the hostages.
The official first trailer released together with the posters gives a glimpse of the dangerous moment at the time of the kidnapping and the situation in which it is hard to reach the negotiation due to all kinds of bad conditions. Immediately after the kidnapping, the Taliban issues a notice of murder within 24 hours. The cold expression of the diplomat Jung Jae Ho clearly shows the urgency of a negotiation. In addition, the trailer begins with Jung Jae Ho’s line, “I understand that one of the important missions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is to protect our citizens”, which implies Jung Jae Ho’s sense of duty.
When Jae Ho insisted on verification as the first step, local NIS agent Dae Sik asked back, “Can you take responsibility if another victim comes out?”. This heralds the difficult collaboration between Jae Ho, a capable diplomat, and NIS agent Dae Sik, who believes the hostages should be saved by any means.
Despite their opposite opinions, Jae Ho and Dae Sik move to save the hostages under unfavorable conditions, such as the Taliban’s requirement changes and the sacrifice of more hostages, raising expectations for an intense negotiation in the movie.
In addition, Kang Ki Young will appear in “The Point Men” as Lee Bong Han (Qasim), who survives in Afghanistan and understands the local circumstances well. His appearance is expected to help the negotiation operation and add more fun to the story.
Meanwhile, “The Point Men” is the third movie produced with the collaboration between Watermelon Pictures and director Yim Soon Rye. The movie will premiere on January 18th, 2023.
