On September 30, Eyesmag’s official account shared a short clip with the caption: “A man who only makes finger hearts for Son Ye Jin… Hyun Bin, the perfect ice prince.” The video featured Hyun Bin attending the VIP premiere of the film Boss (directed by Ra Hee-chan) at a Seoul cinema.
In the footage, Hyun Bin is seen walking the photo wall when a fan reached out to form half a heart with their hand. Instead of completing it, Hyun Bin clasped the fan’s hand in a handshake instead.
Fans reacted enthusiastically: “Captain Ri and Yoon Se-ri forever,” “Hyun Bin folds up hearts,” “He only does finger hearts for Son Ye Jin,” “A heart reserved for his wife,” and “This is the perfect example of a married man—absolutely no fan hearts allowed.” Many praised the gesture as a sign of Hyun Bin’s unwavering affection for his wife Son Ye Jin.
The moment grew even bigger when Son Ye Jin herself responded directly by dropping emojis of a smiling face in sunglasses and a thumbs-up, showing her approval.
However, some argued Hyun Bin may not have realized the fan was asking for a heart: “He probably thought they wanted a handshake,” “It wasn’t obvious what they meant,” and “He might have thought it was some new style of greeting.”
Hyun Bin and Son Ye Jin, both born in 1982, married in 2022 and welcomed their first son later that year. Hyun Bin recently attended the VIP premiere of No Other Choice (directed by Park Chan-wook) on September 22 at CGV Yongsan, showing support for his wife’s big-screen comeback. The couple’s mutual support is well-known, with Son Ye Jin also attending the VIP screening of Hyun Bin’s 2024 film Harbin.
