Girls’ Generation member Hyoyeon has candidly opened up about the emotional struggles and personal growth she has experienced after nearly two decades in the entertainment industry.

According to a preview for MBC’s Save Me! Homes, airing on July 16, Hyoyeon will join Lee Chae Young, Yang Se Chan, and Ahn Jae Hyun on a special episode exploring the homes and lifestyles of single women in their 40s and 50s who have embraced independent living.

Before the house tour began, Hyoyeon surprised the cast by sharing deeply personal reflections about her career and mindset. The singer revealed that she has gradually learned to let go of many of the burdens she once carried.

“I think I’ve let go of quite a lot,” Hyoyeon admitted. “There were times when I felt suffocated and found myself wondering how much longer I could continue living like this.”

Her heartfelt confession quickly drew attention, as it marked one of the rare occasions she has publicly spoken about her emotional journey since debuting with Girls’ Generation nearly 19 years ago.

Lee Chae Young, who is now in her ninth year as an entertainer, also shared her own perspective with humor. “I let go of things from the very beginning of my debut, so now I actually regret it a little,” she joked, lightening the mood with an entertaining performance that had everyone in the studio laughing.

As one of the industry’s veteran idols, Hyoyeon also offered practical advice to younger artists navigating the challenges of K-pop life. Her comments reportedly prompted host Jang Dong Min to make a cryptic remark, adding even more energy to the discussion.

Beyond conversations about their careers, the episode showcases homes that reflect the unique personalities and lifestyles of middle-aged single women. Kim Sook, often regarded as a role model for independent urban women, continues to share the joys of living alone. Meanwhile, Hyoyeon, who still lives in a dormitory, and Lee Chae Young, who has been living independently for about two years, expressed excitement about experiencing different living environments.

One of the first homes featured belongs to two sisters living along the Han River in Seoul’s Gwangjin District. As soon as the guests entered, they were captivated by bookshelves covering the living room walls. Yang Se Chan jokingly remarked, “Looking at the four of us, it doesn’t seem like any of us have read a book.” His comment prompted immediate reactions from Ahn Jae Hyun and Hyoyeon, both of whom reminded him that they had actually published books themselves, creating one of the episode’s funniest moments.
