On the May 6 episode of You Quiz on the Block, Hyoyeon appeared alongside fellow members Yuri and Sooyoung as part of the playful “HyoriSu” trio created to rival the group’s vocal subunit TaeTiSeo.
During the show, the cast brought up the fact that Hyoyeon has continued living in the group dorm for two decades. Laughing, she explained: “I just kept living there without thinking much about it, and one by one the members moved out. It’s not like I insisted on staying.”
Host Yoo Jae Suk jokingly responded that Hyoyeon could appear on a documentary program just for being an idol who has lived in a dorm for 20 years.

When Yoo Jae Suk commented that the dorm must be spacious, Hyoyeon agreed, while Yuri added that the apartment is nearly 50 pyeong in size, roughly equivalent to 165 square meters.
Hyoyeon then humorously praised SM Entertainment, saying: “Isn’t it such a great company? We continue doing overseas tours and working hard together for a win-win situation. I can’t just freeload.”
She also revealed that she does not pay rent for the dorm.
“I don’t pay anything. I just have to do my best. I’m always grateful. Whenever I enter the dorm, I say, ‘Thank you,’” she shared, drawing laughter from everyone on set.

Hyoyeon added that the dorm still serves as a gathering place for the members. Yuri occasionally visits, and even her bed reportedly remains there.
Yoo Jae Suk jokingly compared the situation to married daughters returning to their mother’s home, with Hyoyeon acting as the “mother” of the dorm. Hyoyeon played along with the joke, saying, “I’m the one who sent them all away.”
Despite the years that have passed since Girls’ Generation debuted, the members’ close friendship continues to remain unchanged. Hyoyeon’s story not only surprised viewers but also highlighted the lasting bond between the members, with their longtime dorm still serving as a place where they reunite and share memories together.
