Girls’ Generation’s Hyoyeon surprised viewers by revealing that she is still living in her group’s dorm, nearly 19 years after debut, during her appearance on Please Take Care of My Refrigerator.
The idol made the confession on the April 12 broadcast alongside fellow Tiffany Young, drawing attention for her unexpectedly long dorm life.
During the episode, MCs revealed that the production team had retrieved Hyoyeon’s refrigerator directly from the Girls’ Generation dorm, prompting surprise from the cast. When asked if she had been living there alone all this time, Hyoyeon confirmed it without hesitation.

She explained that although her family home is in Songdo, the dorm remains the most practical and comfortable place for her daily schedule.
Hyoyeon described the dorm as more than just a residence—it’s a space of stability and care.
“It’s a comfortable resting place. And to make sure I don’t skip meals, someone always cooks for me. There’s no better place than this,” she shared.
A key part of that comfort comes from a long-time dorm caretaker, affectionately referred to as “auntie” by the members. According to Hyoyeon, this caretaker has been with them since even before Girls’ Generation’s debut, continuing to prepare meals and look after the space.

Her words reflected a deep sense of attachment, highlighting how the dorm has remained a constant in her life throughout nearly two decades in the industry.
Hyoyeon’s revelation offered fans a unique perspective on idol living arrangements. While many assume that artists move out shortly after achieving success, her story shows a different side—one where familiarity, routine, and emotional comfort outweigh change.
Rather than being a temporary space, the dorm has evolved into a long-term home, shaped by years of memories and relationships.
