HYBE’s New Girl Group KATSEYE Confirms 6 Members, Bang Si-hyuk “I’m Rooting For Your Future Journey”

HYBE X Geffen Records’s project “The Debut: Dream Academy” confirmed a 6-member debut lineup

Sophia (the Philippines), Lara (USA), Yoon Chae (Korea), Megan (USA), Daniela (USA) and Manon (Switzerland) have been selected in the final debut lineup in the girl group audition hosted by HYBE and Geffen Records. The name of the girl group will be KATSEYE.

“The Debut: Dream Academy” held a 90-minute live finale at XR Studios in Hollywood on November 18th (KST) and announced the debut lineup for HYBE’s new global girl group. It was broadcast live through the official YouTube channel HYBE LABELs, Weverse, and ABEMA.

The live finale began with the “Girls Don’t Like” stage by 5 members Daniela, Emily, Marquise, Megan, and Yoon Chae. Then, 5 other members, Ezrela, Lara, Manon, Samara, and Sophia performed “Dirty Water”. Finally, all 10 members, who have shared joys and sorrows throughout the time they spent with “Dream Academy”, presented a performance of the theme song “All the Same”.

Watching all the stages, HYBE’s Chairman Bang Si-hyuk and Geffen Records’s CEO said, “I hope you can congratulate yourself for coming this far. We appreciate your passion and effort in each mission, as well as the growth you’ve shown until the final stage. We’re proud of each of you and we hope you will continue believing in yourself. We’re rooting for your journey”.

Later, Sophia was announced as the first member of the debut lineup, followed by other 5 members Lara, Yoon Chae, Megan, Daniela, and Manon. Eliminated contestants also cheered for the debut members enthusiastically. Later, the 6 debut members took turns to express their overwhelming feelings.

What’s more meaningful is that the group name KATSEYE was chosen by the participants. Chairman Bang Si-hyuk said, “The group name should contain the unique personality and characteristics of the group. It will be connected to the group’s identity and global fans. I’m looking forward to your starting point, future steps and potential”.

KATSEYE is preparing for their debut in earnest. A documentary about their growth will premiere on Netflix in 2024.
