Veteran Chinese actor Hu Ge, 43, has revealed personal insights into his family life and emotional struggles, admitting he feels like a “failure” when it comes to balancing his roles as an actor, husband, and father.
In a recent interview promoting his latest film Three Drops of Blood, Hu Ge publicly confirmed for the first time that he is now the father of two children — a daughter and a recently born son. However, the celebrated actor also confessed to feelings of guilt and inadequacy, stating, “I’m a failure. I haven’t done well in balancing work and family.”
Hu Ge shared that the demands of his filming schedule often keep him away from home, making him feel absent during his children’s formative years. “I’m away filming most of the time and miss out on their growth,” he said.
In a particularly touching anecdote, Hu Ge recalled a moment when he brought his daughter to a film set because he couldn’t bear to be separated. Upon reflection, he admitted the decision was careless and he now deeply regrets it.
