HOOK’s CEO Kwon Jin Young suspected of power trip and receiving prescriptions through a third party, suspicious Kakaotalk chatroom revealed

Suspicions about CEO Kwon’s power trip behaviors, such as ordering employees to get sleeping pills and run errands, continue to be raised.

According to HOOK Entertainment’s internal data obtained by SBS Entertainment News, CEO Kwon Jin Young ordered her company employees to receive her prescribed medicines and handle personal tasks unrelated to their company’s work, such as home repairs.

In January, CEO Kwon sent a photo of sleeping pills to employee A and ordered them to “pretend not to know director Choi”. Choi is an executive who has worked for CEO Kwon for 20 years. In fact, giving psychotropic medicines, such as sleeping pills, to others after receiving a false prescription can be considered a violation of the Narcotics Control Act.

When A said that it was impossible to get sleeping pills prescribed, CEO Kwon ordered another company employee B to receive a third-party prescription through A.

On July 5th, B sent a picture of their arm after taking a blood test at the hospital to their co-worker A through Kakaotalk. B complained, “They asked me to take a vitamin D test. If it’s not enough, I’ll have to get an injection every three months. You shouldn’t rely on sleeping pills at a young age”. In response, A said, “Make sure to report it to the CEO when you come in”, suggesting that CEO Kwon ordered them to get a prescription for sleeping pills.

Some former employees also claimed, “In HOOK, it’s hard for employees to refuse CEO Kwon’s unreasonable orders”.

In this regard, an official from HOOK repeated their previous position to SBS Entertainment News, saying “She did not ask a third party to receive prescriptions for sleeping pills”, adding “CEO Kwon did not say much about such things”. Employee B also said to reporters, saying “I’ve never given sleeping pills to CEO Kwon. I’m suffering from insomnia”, denying the suspicions.

Earlier, CEO Kwon Jin Young reportedly ordered two employees to purchase personal medicines through proxy prescriptions at two hospitals using HOOK’s corporate card more than 30 times from June 2020 to June 2022. In response, HOOK admitted that CEO Kwon used the company card to purchase personal medicine but emphasized there was no problem with that.
