Honda Hitomi, “I miss tteokbokki and Korean fried chicken. I also want to appear in Korean dramas”

Former IZ*ONE member Honda Hitomi revealed her whereabouts in Japan.

Born in 2001, Honda Hitomi joined Mnet’s survival show “Produce 48” in 2018 and made her debut in Korea as a member of the girl group IZ*ONE, working together with Jang Won Young, Miyawaki Sakura, Ahn Yu Jin, Choi Ye Na, etc. Having a refreshing and lovely charm, Hitomi is nicknamed “Human Peach” by fans. After IZ*ONE disbanded in April 2021, Hitomi returned to AKB48 in Japan and is active as the center of the group.

At the Japanese radio station TokyoFM, Hitomi hosts the “IDOLCHAMP presents POP-K TOP 10 Friday” radio broadcast that airs every Friday. In the “After Talk” section, she, who has been active as a K-pop singer for many years, conveys her love for Korea and K-pop to radio listeners.

– Wasn’t it hard to manage yourself when carrying out idol activities?

“After coming to Korea, I tried my best to diet. I lost 10kg but I still admired Korean idols because they had great styles. I thought I needed to work hard because I was promoting in Korea, so dieting also became less difficult.”

– What’s your favorite Korean food?

“I really love honeycomb fried chicken and cheese balls. I also like rose tteokbokki and Greek yogurt. Greek yogurt in Japan is not as sticky as Korean ones. Haha. If I go to Korea, I definitely want to eat them. These are the foods that I would love so much if they are sold in Japan.”

– You must have had lots of memories in Korea.

“It was very happy every day. It was hard, but before I came back to Japan, I went on a trip to Jeju Island with Min Joo and the manager. Before then, I was so busy that I couldn’t travel. After the disbandment concert, I had a month off. It was my first trip. I enjoyed my leisure time and delicious food.”

– How is your schedule in Japan?

“I’m in a group, but I still have many personal schedules. I’ve been shooting magazines, CFs, acting, and doing various things. I’m doing lots of things besides idol activities right now”.

– Are you satisfied with your activities?

“I’m not sure if I’m doing well, but I think the 20s is the time when you can get up again even if you fail. So I’m taking on various challenges and trying to find a style that suits me. I like reading books. My Korean fans know that, so they give me a lot of books as presents.”

– What is your MBTI?

“It came out as INFJ many times, but recently, IN has changed to ES. I was so amazed by the result. I think it was because I learned lots of things through IZ*ONE activities and I want to share them with my Japanese friends. I used to be very quiet but I’ve become more talkative since I came back to Japan.”

– What are your dreams and goals for the future?

“I am currently active as an idol. Through my activities with IZ*ONE, I’ve learned and been able to speak Korean, so I want to do a job that allows me to use Korean a lot. I will strive to show myself to fans all over the world beyond Japan. I want to do a lot of things. I’m a bit greedy, right?”

– What is your favorite Korean drama?

“I really like ‘Signal’. I like acting and I also want to show fans some new sides of me. If I have a chance, I would like to appear in a Korean project.”

– What about your current radio show?

“K-pop is very popular in Japan, so many people are listening to my radio. I hope IZ*ONE songs will be in the rankings someday. I really want to introduce those songs to radio listeners.”

– Say something to your Korean fans.

“I’m sending messages in Korean every day to fans through a daily mail service. Thank you so much for being with me even after I came back to Japan. I will continue to work hard to show my gratitude and repay you.”
