In the latter half of 2023, viewers can look forward to the long-awaited comebacks of several top male actors in the industry. From Song Joong Ki to Nam Goong Min, these talented actors are set to grace the screen once again with exciting film and drama projects. Let’s take a closer look at what they have in store for their fans.

Song Joong Ki – Hopeless

Song Joong Ki is set to make a comeback in the film “Hopeless.” Last year, his lead role in the drama “Reborn Rich” created much buzz. This year, Song Joong Ki has chosen to return in a big-screen project. 


“Hopeless” features an intriguing cast, including two rising stars, Bibi and Hong Xa Bin. The film recently premiered at the Cannes Film Festival 2023, generating immense anticipation among fans.

Set against a compelling backdrop, “Hopeless” tells the story of Yeon Gyu (Hong Xa Bin), a young man who endures an abusive stepfather and dreams of a peaceful life with his mother. However, a turning point occurs when Yeon Gyu finds himself caught up in a fight to protect his sister, Ha Yan (Bibi). While unable to afford the settlement, Yeon Gyu finds solace in the assistance of Chi Geon (Song Joong Ki), a boss in the underworld. In return, he becomes Chi Geon’s subordinate, plunging into a perilous world of battles.

Lee Jun Ki – Arthdal Chronicles: The Sword of Aramoon

Another highly anticipated drama in 2023 is “Arthdal Chronicles: The Sword of Aramoon,” starring renowned actors Lee Jun Ki and Jang Dong Gun. 


As a sequel to “Arthdal Chronicles,” which aired in 2019, season 2 promises to captivate audiences once again. Set in a fictional land of Arth, the story revolves around the Arthdal Kingdom of Ta Gon (Jang Dong Gun) and the Ago Union of Eun Seom (Lee Jun Ki). Eight years after Ta Gon ascended the throne, their realms face an inevitable and colossal war. Viewers can expect an immersive tale of power, politics, and mythical legends.

Ji Chang Wook – The Worst of Evil

Ji Chang Wook will be returning to the action genre in the eagerly anticipated drama “The Worst of Evil.” After a hiatus from action-oriented roles since “The K2” (2016), Ji Chang Wook is set to portray Park Joon Mo, an undercover police officer. 


Tasked with infiltrating an international drug trafficking organization, Park Joon Mo is determined to bring the criminals to justice. Im Se Mi joins the cast as Yoo Eui Jung, Park Joon Mo’s wife and a fellow police officer involved in the same case. Wi Ha Joon portrays Jung Ki Chul, a captivating figure who leads a newly formed criminal gang.

Apart from “The Worst of Evil,” fans of Ji Chang Wook can also anticipate his appearance in “Welcome to Samdalri.” This webtoon-based drama follows the journeys of characters who once stood at the pinnacle of success but lost everything. 

Earlier this year, both Ji Chang Wook and Shin Hye Sun received offers to take on the lead roles, generating much excitement among their fans. 

Nam Goong Min – Lovers

The last name on the list is Nam Goong Min with the historical drama “Lovers.” In “Lovers”, Nam Goong Min takes on the role of Lee Jang Hyun, a mysterious man with complex inner emotions. He never truly opens up to anyone and has no desire to get married. However, everything changes when he meets Yu Gil Chae (Ahn Eun Jin).


Yu Gil Chae comes from a noble family and has an arrogant nature. She believes that every man in the world will fall for her charms. However, Gil Chae undergoes personal growth and eventually gives her whole heart to Lee Jang Hyun after experiencing various tumultuous events.

In addition to Nam Goong Min and Ahn Eun Jin, “Lovers” also stars Lee Hak Joo and Lee Da In.
