“Hey, push. We’re stronger”… A famous Youtuber revealed the on-site situation of the Itaewon tragedy
Youtuber Sun Yeo-jung, who has 600,000 subscribers, shocked everyone as she reported the on-site situation of the recent crushing accident in Itaewon.
On October 30th, Sun Yeo-jung posted on her Instagram Story posted on-site pictures of the ‘Itaewon tragedy’ with long captions, saying “Everyone, a severe accident happened in Itaewon”.
She continued, “Everyone, it was very chaotic so you shouldn’t come here. There was a fire, and people got panicked and pressed to death”, adding “I was about to go home an hour ago, but I just can’t move right now. I hope no more accidents like this would happen. People moved without any order and the situation was very serious”.
In addition, Sun Seo-jung said, “I was at the scene and I saw everything so clearly. When I was out of breath and things turned gray in front of my eyes, many thoughts suddenly went through my mind like a flash. I thought I would die from being tangled or suffocation if I tripped and fell down while being pressed like that”, adding “When I was able to witness the scene, many people had already fainted on the ground, and no one knew what was going on”.
She went on, “I was lucky enough to get out, and what I saw at that moment was the scene in which there were only a few medical staff but too many patients so ordinary people had to help, and everyone looked already pale”, adding “The bus had to make a U-turn and moved in other ways, general vehicles and emergency cars got blocked. There were screams, as well as desperate and urgent scenes, just like in a disaster movie”, reporting the situation at the time.
In the meantime, Sun Yeo-jung revealed a video she filmed at that time and said, “There were people behind my back shouting ‘Hey, push! We’re stronger. I’ll win’. Even if I went through the crowd on the right side, I didn’t just move as I wanted, but it felt like I was being pushed away”.
She added, “At some point, the circulation got tangled and people suddenly pushed each other. Getting stuck in the space with strong forces like a tug-of-war as the pressure came from the back to the front and on both sides, my mind suddenly went blank”, adding “If the friend who went with me hadn’t caught me and helped me out, I would have fainted and collapsed on the ground”.
On October 29th, a stampede accident occurred in Itaewon, Seoul as over 100,000 people flocked to the place at once ahead of Halloween. In a briefing earlier today (October 30th), the head of Yongsan Fire Station Choi Sung-beom said, “There have been 149 deaths and 76 injuries”, adding “Among the injuries, 19 people were seriously injured and 57 others were light cases”.
Meanwhile, Sun Yeo-jung made her face known to the public as Youtuber who produces various entertainment content about daily life, humor, and beauty. She currently has about 600,000 subscribers.
