Hani With No Hit After 5 Years of Acting: “A Slump Came, One Hour of Meditation Every Day”

Ahn Hee Yeon (EXID’s Hani) revealed the reason behind her decision to challenge theater acting.

On MBC Radio FM4U’s ‘Lee Seok Hoon’s Brunch Cafe’ aired on August 1st, Ahn Hee Yeon said, “It’s been five years since I started acting. I had been enjoying it all along, but I felt like it was staying the same. So, I wanted to fill it with new stimulation, and fortunately, I received an offer to join a play. I thought I could achieve what I wanted through theater acting.

She continued, “I was very scared. I usually meditate for one hour a day, but before doing this play, I meditated for a full hour without fail. It was very helpful.”

Ahn Hee Yeon also added, “Director Oh Man Seok, whom I respect, explained the unique aspect to me since I had never been on stage before. He said I had to muster the energy to fight against 300 people. I couldn’t grasp that idea at first, but after being on stage, I completely understood it, and it felt like I was continuously developing that ability.”

Despite gaining much attention during her idol activities, Ahn Hee Yeon faced failure in terms of ratings for her dramas. JTBC’s “Idol: The Coup” received a viewership rating of 0% for episode 12. Her other TV and web dramas also failed to grab much attention. The recently released “Call It Love” also recorded underwhelming results.

Meanwhile, ‘Three Days of Rain’ is a play that delves into the truth of the older generation’s parents through a diary found while sorting out the legacy of a famous architect father in the backgrounds of the 1990s and the 1960s. It will be performed until October 1st at Dongguk University’s Hae Rang Art Theater.
