On September 8, the mother of child actor Jo Se-woong, who appeared alongside Go Hyun-jung in the SBS weekend drama Queen Mantis, shared a video on social media revealing the frightening moment that occurred during filming on a seaside set.
According to Jo Se-woong’s mother, her son had excitedly run toward the ocean when a sudden wave nearly swept him away.
“Out of nowhere, Go Hyun-jung came running faster than anyone else from a distance and pulled him to safety, hugging him tightly afterward,” she wrote. “Her costume was soaked, but she didn’t hesitate to throw herself into the sea to save him. As a mother, I froze in shock, but I can never thank her enough.”
Jo Se-woong’s mother also recalled Go Hyun-jung’s warmth off-camera: “Even after the shoot, she kept playing with Se-woong and doted on him like a real mom. For a while, he called her ‘Mom Hyun-jung’ and adored her so much.”
Go Hyun-jung stars in the SBS drama Queen Mantis, a high-stakes crime thriller about a serial killer known as the “Mantis.” Twenty years after the original capture, a copycat emerges, and a detective teams up unexpectedly with the killer’s mother to solve the case. The drama also features actors Jang Dong-yoon, Jo Sung-ha, and Lee El.
