Actor Park Hyung-sik, recently making headlines for the rumored 5 billion KRW per episode fee, is leaving a strong impression as a villain in KBS2’s weekend mini-series Twelve. Despite this star power, the show’s ratings have steadily declined, starting at 8.1% for the premiere and dropping to 5.9%, 4.2%, 3.1%, and 2.6% in subsequent episodes.

Episodes 5 and 6, aired on September 6 and 7, showcased the return of O-Gwi’s (Park Hyung-sik) erased memories. After obtaining the last black stone and successfully kidnapping Mir (Lee Ju-bin) through Samin (Kim Chan-hyung), O-Gwi begins to experience disorientation, seeing blurred images of himself before Mir, signaling something unusual.

In his quest to resurrect the spirit of Haetae, O-Gwi performs a ritual to expel the dragon’s soul from Mir’s body. Yet, as memories of Mir resurface amidst a blinding light, O-Gwi collapses. In the past, O-Gwi and Mir shared a passionate love, but O-Gwi was punished by divine decree for defying fate and bringing ruin to the world. As a result, Marok (Sung Dong-il) erased all memories of Mir from O-Gwi, leaving him trapped in eternal darkness, neither living nor dead.
Awakened, O-Gwi unleashes anger for being imprisoned for thousands of years, attacking Marok while also protecting Mir from Samin’s assaults, showing the lingering depth of his emotions.
Park Hyung-sik’s performance strikes a balance between restraint and explosive emotion, convincingly portraying O-Gwi’s transformation from cold cynicism to intense fury as his past memories return. His nuanced acting highlights the complexity of O-Gwi’s villainous yet tragic persona.
Fans are eagerly anticipating how far O-Gwi’s dark deeds will go and the ultimate clash with the 12 Zodiac angels defending the human world. The poignant relationship between O-Gwi and Mir adds emotional depth, leaving viewers curious about how their restored memories will shape the unfolding narrative.
