On the morning of October 31, Chinese media outlets published a series of photos showing Gillian Chung strolling hand-in-hand with Huangfu Shenghua (also known as Huangfu Sam) in Beijing the previous evening. The two were seen walking closely together, even slipping their hands into each other’s coat pockets a gesture that immediately drew attention and reignited rumors of a same-sex romance.
This isn’t the first time the pair have been seen together. In the past, Gillian and Huangfu were spotted shopping, dining, and even entering the same hotel, but neither has ever confirmed their relationship publicly.
Born in 1989 in Shanghai, Huangfu Shenghua is a well-known internet model, fashion entrepreneur, and businesswoman in China. Her edgy and tomboyish style, paired with striking facial features, has earned her the nickname “female Edison Chen.”
Huangfu graduated from the Central Conservatory of Music and later pursued studies in Los Angeles in 2014. She went on to earn an EMBA degree from Peking University. Currently, she serves as the founder and CEO of the fashion label SAMAY, while her family operates a large real estate business that spans residential, commercial, and hotel properties.
