(G)I-DLE Jeon So Yeon won Best Songwriter at the MMA 2022, “My dream finally came true”

Jeon So Yeon, a member of the girl group (G)I-DLE, was honored with Best Songwriter at the MMA 2022.

At the MMA 2022 (Melon Music Awards 2022) held at Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul at 6 P.M on November 26th, So Yeon was announced as the winner of Best Songwriter.

Best Songwriter is given to the composer/lyricist who made the best song of the year. The winner was determined based on the judges’ score only without voting. In particular, So Yeon wrote and composed “TOMBOY” and “Nxde”, which are the two hit songs (G)I-DLE released this year.

So Yeon took the stage and said, “Winning this award at MMA was my dream. Thank you for making my dream come true”. She added, “I want to thank all the people who worked with me in music production, including mixing and mastering”.

So Yeon continued, “I think I was able to receive this award because I met such jewel-like voices. I want to thank my members for that”. Lastly, she said, “I can’t deliver great messages every time, but I will be a composer who creates music with sincerity”, showing her determination.

“MMA 2022” is a music award ceremony hosted by Kakao Entertainment. It awards artists in various categories including major awards, such as Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Record of the Year, Best New Artist, TOP 10 Artists, etc. Songs released from November 8th, 2021 to November 3rd, 2022 were subject to the evaluation for awards.
