BIGBANG’s G-Dragon faced an unexpected and shocking moment during his Übermensch World Tour stop in Hong Kong, when a fan threw fake money directly at him. The act, caught clearly on camera, left the superstar visibly startled and has since sparked heated discussions online.

Launched in March 2025, the Übermensch World Tour marks G-Dragon’s grand return to the stage after years away. The tour has been praised for its artistic concept and creative staging, with tickets selling out rapidly across Asia. However, the Hong Kong concert became controversial due to one fan’s disrespectful behavior.
While interacting with fans near the stage, G-Dragon was suddenly hit with what appeared to be fake money. He froze momentarily, looking confused, before regaining his composure and continuing the performance with professionalism.
In Korean culture, throwing fake money at someone carries insulting undertones, symbolizing mockery and devaluation. Beyond Korea, in countries such as China, Vietnam, and Taiwan, such fake currency often resembles joss paper or “hell money” used in funerary rites to send offerings to the deceased. Thus, throwing it at a living person can imply wishing death upon them—a gesture seen as ominous and highly offensive.

The fan responsible, reportedly from China, later apologized on Xiaohongshu, explaining that she had not understood the cultural implications:
“I’m truly sorry. I only intended it as playful fun, like when dancers throw ribbons. I never meant any disrespect or harm to G-Dragon. I now realize it was inappropriate and will be more mindful in the future.”
Despite the apology, online debate continues. Some netizens argue the fan was simply ignorant of the cultural meaning, while others believe concertgoers must exercise more respect toward performers and audiences alike.

The Übermensch World Tour is set to continue across major cities in Asia and Europe. Fans hope future concerts will proceed without further controversy, allowing G-Dragon’s artistry and long-awaited return to shine without distractions.
