G-Dragon Confidently Faces Drug Investigation, Can He Prove Innocent Like Lee Jin-wook?

Will G-Dragon stand confidently in front of the public when attending his upcoming police investigation?

On October 31st, G-Dragon (Kwon Ji-yong)’s legal representative Kim Soo-hyun, a lawyer at K1 Chamber law firm, said, “Kwon Ji-yong decided to voluntarily attend the police on November 6th to actively receive investigation so that it can proceed quickly and fairly.”

The lawyer also asked reporters to have a responsible attitude when reporting the news to avoid irreversible damage to G-Dragon, a representative K-pop artist, and announced their strict responses to the spread of false information and defamation.

Earlier on the 25th, the police booked G-Dragon without detention on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act based on a statement of a hostess bar director. However, in his first and second statements, G-Dragon denied all the drug allegations then expressed his intention to actively cooperate with the police investigation by voluntarily attending the police and doing urine and hair tests.

Looking at G-Dragon’s confident move, netizens recalled Lee Jin-wook’s case in the past.

In 2016, A filed a complaint against Lee Jin-wook, claiming that the actor sexually assaulted her in his studio apartment. Four days later, Lee Jin-wook appeared at the police station with a smile and promised to faithfully participate in the investigation. Eventually, the actor successfully proved his innocence after A admitted to making false accusations. After clearing his charges, he faced the public confidently through various works, such as “Sweet Home”, “Bulgasal: Immortal Souls” and “Doona!”.

In 2011, G-Dragon was caught smoking marijuana during a Japan concert tour, but the prosecution suspended his case, considering him a first-time offender and that the amount of marijuana he smoked was not enough to be subject to punishment. Regarding the controversy back then, G-Dragon later appeared on a broadcast and clarified that he received a cigarette from a stranger and did not know it was marijuana.

Unlike the past controversy, G-Dragon repeatedly denied drug charges this time. He shows a confident attitude like Lee Jin-wook when announcing that he would voluntarily attend the police for the investigation on November 6th. Attention on whether G-Dragon will show up differently from Lee Sun-kyun, who kept bowing his head and apologized before and after entering the police station.
