From EXO Baekhyun to NCT, various artists express dissatisfaction with “sasaeng fans”

Various artists, including Kara Park Gyuri, EXO Baekhyun, and NCT, all complained of damage caused by invasion of privacy by “sasaeng fans”.

On March 6th, SM Entertainment issued an official statement regarding the seriousness of the invasion of privacy that NCT members are suffering from. They also mentioned a case where sasaeng fans broke into the private home of NCT member Haechan

These so-called “sasaeng fans” refer to extremely obsessive fans who follow and stalk celebrities outside of their official schedules and even attempt excessive contact or filming. They also committed malicious acts such as illegally acquiring personal information and attempting to contact members, or distributing malicious rumors.

Thus, SM Entertainment did not acknowledge such behaviors as “fans”, referring to them as only “sasaeng” in their official statement. They also asked these people to cease their criminal acts and warned that strict legal action will be applied with zero tolerance.

And NCT is not the only victim, seeing that KARA member Park Gyuri and EXO Baekhyun were also angered by the excessive privacy infringement.

In particular, Park Gyuri was stalked in Japan, and obsessive fans even lingered around her hotel. She then expressed her fear and displeasure through her real-time live broadcast.

Meanwhile, the recently discharged Baekhyun mentioned that a person approached him during his vocal lesson schedule. He also expressed dissatisfaction with a phone call from his sasaeng during a live broadcast in the past. At the time, this sasaeng even posted the contents of their phone call with Baekhyun on YouTube, shocking the male idol.

Even BTS RM suffered from severe privacy infringement by a KORAIL employee, causing serious damages. Although agencies are taking strong legal measures, it is impossible to prevent all acts of sasaeng fans.
