Lee Do Hyun made a big splash as Kang Ho in “The Good Bad Mother”.
Kang Ho saving his mother
In the 7th episode, Young Soon attempted to take her own life after learning that she had cancer. Fortunately, Kang Ho saw and rescued her at once, despite being on a wheelchair and not able to walk at the time.
He was crying badly and asking his mother not to leave him behind. Lee Do Hyun’s acting conveyed successfully the pain and fear of his character when confronted with the risk of losing a loved one.
Kang Ho received tough training from his mother
Upon seeing his son walking for the first time after a long time, Young Soon was filled with hope for a brighter future for her son.
However, it seems to only be a one-time miracle as Kang Ho could not stand up right away afterward. Wanting to help him, Young Soon resorted to the extreme measure she could think of – pushing him into the water to make him scared again.
Once again, thanks to Do Hyun’s acting, the audience could vividly feel the anxiety of not knowing what would happen and Kang Ho’s desperation in that situation.
Kang Ho kneeling in front of his classmate
In the past, Kang Ho’s father, Choi Hae Shik was murdered because he never bowed down in the face of the enemies. When Kang Ho grew up, he seems to inherit this trait from his father.
Nonetheless, in episode 9, Kang Ho had to do the despicable thing of begging for forgiveness from the kind of her person he hates the most. It was his mother who made him do it so that he would not miss an important exam.
Lee Do Hyun was able to capture the disappointment of his character and, in turn, helped the audience feel his frustration in that situation.
Kang Ho saying farewell to Mi Joo
Mi Joo was a loyal companion who had been there for Kang Ho through every struggling part of his life. She worked and took care of him when he needed to focus on his study. However, in hope of protecting her, he had to say a bitter farewell.
Whenever he went past the Petit nail salon, he could not hold back his tears.
“The Good Bad Mother” is scheduled to air the final episode on June 8th on Netflix and JTBC.
